I’ve been lucky enough to have my Mum giving me moral support on site at the mural. She’s also bogged in on lots of days and helped with the huge tasks of painting the detailed areas like the tessellated tiles. She calls herself the Chief Stencil Holder, Masking Taper and Brush Washer. I am so lucky to have such a fit 81 year old for a mother! It’s been a real blessing to have her help, and company on this huge job. Today we got to work on the tiles out in the plaza around the pond. It involved drawing up a perspective vanishing grid so I could get the distances for each row of tiles as they go off into the distance, then painting them! A lot of work for quite a subtle change, but it helps to give the feeling of distance.
